About us

Rochford is a traditional church with a small but friendly congregation and with a commitment to grow. In 2022, the church will be celebrating 200 years of Methodism in Rochford.

We have three Worship Leaders with varied ideas, and the projector is used every week for displaying hymns and Bible readings.

There are good ecumenical links with all local churches and we take part in the annual Stations of the Cross service at the local Roman Catholic church when it is held.

We have a strong pastoral team who support the Minister in visiting (mainly) our elderly members. We also have a monthly housegroup, meeting in different members homes. We continue to emphasise that all our meetings and services are open to everybody.

Due to falling numbers, our Women's Fellowship had to close, but several ladies still meet and usually join with the Fellowship at Rayleigh - one of the other churches in the Section we are in.

Other outreach includes a successful Table Tennis club, and during December each year we go Carol Singing in elderly persons' residential homes and the Airport Hotel.

The Church is also involved with support for the local Homeless Centre (HARP) and there is a core of people who regularly donate food and personal items for the homeless.

As many people are aware, the Methodist Church moves its Ministers around every few years. We appreciate a Presbyter who is able to give guidance where necessary, and with a vision to encourage us to spread God's love, but with a light touch, as we are used to looking after ourselves.
